Warrior Female

I am interested in creating more characters in this style. My final design pieces are usually without the line, but this one is a mix between line and shape volumes, and I really like it. Besides, probably it is a faster way to create characters, which is always a plus.

Chrono Pugna, our game for the Ludum Dare 37

Ludum Dare 37 (December 9th - 11th, 2016) has ended. I can only say that we have had a lot of fun working really hard all the weekend on our game. It's incredible how productive a small team can be in just two days and a half.


Local mutiplayer 2D game for 2 to 4 players. Theme: One Room.
Time travelers find themselves inside a time machine and they want to get back home. Unfortunately, they come from opposite times and the machine can only hold one teleport!
Fight against the other team in order to go back to your time.
Pick up batteries being carried by rats that live inside the machinery before the other team in order to travel to your time.

Hotspots for 'Yesterday Origins' Adventure Game

I've been working for more than a year as a Background Artist on 'Yesterday Origins', an adventure game for PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, iOS and Android by Pendulo Studios. I've been doing mostly hotspots for the video game and occasionally some backgrounds for the promotional video.

Cheating Monkeys, our game created at #igjam10

Last weekend I participated in a game jam at Innogames. It was a great experience, making team with another artist, four developers, and one sound designer. We managed to create a game despite the fact that we were a team formed by a large group and, therefore, it was difficult to organise all tasks in just 48 hours.
Very fun experience, can't wait for the next one!

The concept:
Multiplayer strategy game based on a post-apocalyptic world ruled by super-intelligent (and violent) monkeys.
Plan your turns, let your monkeys play out your strategy and... STOP! Your time cheating skills will let you change one of your actions.

Ludum Dare 36. Ancient Technology

@ludumdare was a very fun experience. In only 32 hours we achieved a video game. The theme proposed was Ancient Technology, so we thought that it would be interesting to create a game about the most ancient technology of all times, the technology of God, with which he created life. So, in this game, you will be an old and tired god, who will try to manage the life in his tiny planet as better as he can.

Character Designs

More character designs for the same project. Regarding the style, I am trying to find a balance between the ancient Vikings and pirates, based on real references, and my own free interpretation. It is being an awesome experience, I can't wait to show you more as soon as possible.

Character Design Process

This is the character design process that I am using for a new project. First of all, I experimented a lot combining sizes and forms, in a loose way in order to find interesting shapes. I love this part, it surprises me revealing interesting characters that I would never discover if I didn't do these exploration studies first.

Then, using the shape studies as a starting point, it is time to explore more about our final characters, so I use a rough line to draw them, making notes, applying fast changes and making as many decisions as possible. The next step is the final line. It is just about cleaning the rough line up and making them ready to be painted, simplifying and making the shapes as clear as possible.

For the painting, it is good to test many colours, and only when you know which is the final choice, clean the character up and add some extra details if it is necessary.

Concept Art - Color studies

Color studies for my own project. I wanted to paint these heads before to start painting the whole characters -bodies, clothes, props...- just to be sure that this was the style that I was looking for. I like the results, so let's go on painting more concepts!

As usual, I show you the two previous steps, first the line, with which I've designed the characters, and secondly the volume studies, very useful to understand the main shapes and how the light affects them.

Sunrise city

This is probably the illustration with more buildings that I've ever done. It took a wile and it wasn't easy, but finally it's done. I hope you enjoy it. I share the process below.

Firstly, I did the line, it took a wile but it was worth because it allowed me to take the process of painting under control. After that, I did some value studies, trying to find the best illumination for the story that I wanted to explain. Once I have my value election done, I did some fast color keys, looking for a good palette. Then, I started the clean-up process, and finally I applied some textures and effects.

These are the three value studies for this illustration. As you can see, every one explains something completely different, depending of where the light comes from.

Three color keys. The first one was too saturated and less natural than the last one. The second one was a good option as well, but I chose the last one because it had more values and because I liked very much the gradient color applied in the buildings. In my opinion, it looks more natural than the others.

A dark alley

'Don't walk around dark alleys in the middle of the night, shadows seems really impenetrables in the city.' 

I did this composition without line, starting with the basic shapes. As you can see below, it was a matter of time, applying more and more details, defining all the elements as best as I could.

Haunted House illustration

'Rest away from this house, no one is able to know what could happen to you if you don't take this advice really seriously...'

I started this, as many other compositions I did before, doing the line drawing. Once I had it done, I started to paint, just applying plane color shapes. After that, I added some details and secondary colors, trying to make the composition less monochrome. Finally, I applied some textures.
